Mother Nature

One of the few things I like to do to clear my mind is take scenic strolls by lakes with gorgeous trails. This very chilly morning, I happened to take such a therapeutic stroll. Sometimes in a world so filled with worry, hatred and stress--we all seem to forget to take a second and let Mother Nature soothe the weary soul.

Someday. For now, we dream.

After cheering on global warming since Christmas of last year, my area has decided to finally chuck out some snowfall. Yes, in February, I finally see some real snow. Watch out, Kansas drivers! Three inches of snow is super dangerous. Ha!

Apart from being a known window licker my furbaby, Luci(fur) "Gremlin" Young,--and yes that is her full name--has been showing symptoms of Winter Blues. And by that I mean she's been planning the murder of the Groundhog who predicted extra weeks of winter.

"I will have my REVENGE!"

Can you hear me now?

Have you ever felt like you've been shouting at the world but no one hears you? Yep. It's one of those days. One day our voices will be heard.

Silent Heroes

It's been years since I have worn my military service uniform. I look into the eyes of my combat sisters and there is still profound pride of "girl power." But the silent war of gender equality is still far from over. I honor my sisters today. I am proud to have served with such strong, independent women.

To all the ladies who have came out of the ghetto and beat oppression, I salute you.

To the ladies who--perhaps, without a choice--become single mothers and did everything in their power to play both roles of mother and father to their child, I salute you.

To all my ladies who have overcame struggles such as cancer, poverty, and abuse; I salute you.

A First of Many

I couldn't imagine a life without a camera. Giving the world a special glimpse of your "bird's eye" is truly a remarkable break through in technology. How many times have we been inspired by amazing images through the centuries?

Through this blog, I hope to provide just a small dosage of such same inspiration. Join me on my special quest through amateur photography. I started with my first DSLR camera, the Nikon D40. And now have graduated to a Canon T3i.
